: The groundbreaking passage of the Massachusetts Oceans Act of 2008 provides further evidence of the heightened appreciation for the value of New England?s oceans, estuaries, coastal waters, and watersheds. Along with that appreciation is a growing awareness of the vulnerability of these resources to impacts associated with climate change. Federal, state, and local agencies and private interests are responding in a proactive way by investing in the development of mitigation and adaptation measures aimed at sea level rise, floods and storms, effects on drinking water supplies, and the increasing temperatures and acidification of the oceans. This EBC program will provide a New England view of the implications of some of these activities.
